How to see if your property is correctly valued

I have spent the last several years learning how the JCBOE values property and have
significantly reduced my taxes by correcting JCBOE errors. This website is intended to
make the process much easier for you.

The first thing to do is to get your ICS, or Inventory Control Sheet, from the Jefferson
County Board of Equalization (JCBOE). This is normally a one page printout showing
the values they have for your parcel.
How to get ICS

Some appraisal data available via Internet

(Note: Below is a PDF file, magnification is altered via the percentage shown above it.

To download current PDF reader from Adobe)

Sample ICS

Property value is broken into two parts Land value and Improvement value such as
your house. These are shown on the bottom right hand corner of the ICS as "LAND"
and "IMPS". When referring to information contained on the ICS I will use the data
heading as they appear on the report such as "LAND" or "IMPS".

To begin by stepping  through "IMPS". Checking the square footage of your home is
the easiest and most profitable thing to check first.
